ComEd® and Nicor Gas New Construction Service
Financial incentives and technical assistance available for energy efficiency.

If your business or design firm is in the early design stage of a new construction or major renovation project in Chicago or northern Illinois, you should know about the ComEd and Nicor Gas New Construction Service.

The New Construction Service combines financial incentives and technical assistance such as energy modeling to encourage owners, developers and design teams to incorporate energy-saving strategies in their building’s design. Applications must be submitted early in the design phase to qualify for the program (design development or earlier).

For more information visit the New Construction Service website. For questions or to discuss a specific project, contact the New Construction Service team at 855.433.2700 or SmartIdeasBiz@ComEd.com.

Conceptual energy modeling: Clarifying early design opportunities

Overview

Conceptual energy modeling can help to inform many critical energy focused decisions very early in the design process. Early energy-efficiency decisions can help to avoid expensive "re-design" fees, reduce the cost to implement measures later in design, and provide the building owner with a more valuable asset. Conceptual energy modeling is also critical when establishing performance-based energy targets.

During this webinar, we'll discuss how to perform conceptual energy modeling with relatively basic information, when to use it in the design process, and common applications and scenarios. A live demonstration will be conducted that will show you how to use simple tools within a comprehensive analysis format to imbed energy, first cost, and life cycle cost information into the early design process.  more...
